The third edition of the Water Innovation newsletter has been published and is now available on the MEloDIZER LinkedIn page.
Titled “From Lab to Industry: MEloDIZER’s Journey Towards Sustainable Membrane Distillation”, this new issue marks an important milestone for the project as it enters its third year. The newsletter features an in-depth interview with Prof. Alberto Tiraferri and Prof. Matteo Fasano (Politecnico di Torino), coordinators of the MEloDIZER project, who share insights into the main technical and scientific achievements reached so far.
The interview highlights:

the project’s vision to enable real-world implementation of membrane distillation through sustainable, scalable and application-oriented solutions;

the development of next-generation green membranes and modules based on eco-friendly solvents;

the scale-up of membranes into industrial-size modules and their integration into full-scale prototypes;

the design of four membrane distillation prototypes for industrial wastewater reuse and decentralized drinking water production, operating with 90–100% renewable energy;
-
the role of digital twins and advanced control platforms in optimizing system performance, energy efficiency and reliability.
The newsletter also outlines the next steps of the project, including the installation and validation of industrial demonstrators and the refinement of exploitation strategies for MEloDIZER’s Key Exploitable Results.
