MEloDIZER Presented at DESAL 2025: Advancing Innovation in Membrane Distillation

November 16-19, MEloDIZER took part in DESAL 2025 – Desalination: Science and Technology, held under the Elsevier conference series, where the project was represented through two high-level scientific contributions delivered by researchers from Politecnico di Torino.

During the event, Alberto Tiraferri presented the talk “Tailored Membrane Distillation Demonstrators for Brine Valorization and Off-Grid Desalination: Design Strategies and Preliminary Results”, showcasing the project’s progress in developing next-generation MD demonstrators aimed at sustainable brine management and decentralized freshwater production. His presentation highlighted early results from MEloDIZER’s prototypes and the design strategies adopted to improve energy efficiency and operational performance.

Roberto contributed with the presentation “Systematic exploration of direct solar absorption potential to enhance direct contact membrane distillation”, illustrating ongoing research on solar-driven MD and its potential to significantly boost process efficiency. This work aligns directly with MEloDIZER’s objectives to integrate renewable energy sources and reduce freshwater production costs.

The strong interest generated during both sessions confirms the relevance of MEloDIZER’s research within the international desalination community. Conferences like DESAL 2025 provide an essential platform to disseminate scientific results, strengthen collaborations, and accelerate the adoption of innovative water treatment technologies.
