About the event

The 2nd Training Event of the MELODIZER project focuses on ‘Heat and Mass Transfer Modelling for Membrane Distillation,’ tailored for MSc students in engineering. This event will explore both component- and system-level modeling of Membrane Distillation (MD) technology. On the component scale, attendees will learn computational thermal-fluid dynamics simulation methods to optimize heat and mass transfer within MD modules, focusing on fluid flow, temperature, and salt distribution. At the system scale, the workshop will showcase the integration of MD modules with solar thermal technologies and thermal energy storage, emphasizing overall energy efficiency. Prepare to engage in insightful discussions and gain valuable insights into MD technology and its significance in sustainable energy solutions.

This seminar is organized by MELODIZER EU funded project within the course “Advanced Engineering Thermodynamics” for the M.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering at Politecnico di Torino leaded by Prof. Matteo Fasano. The event will be in presence for the PoliTO students (and for anyone else that would like to join in the class), and online for remote participants – including speakers.
